The Southwest Florida Branch of the NLAPW located in Lee County
was established on November 1, 1977. It is currently comprised
of twenty-five members, two of whom are honorary. These fine
artists and published authors are known both nationally and
locally. Their work, earning hundreds of awards, continues to
be displayed in USA galleries and world-wide collections.
The Southwest Florida Branch has a deep concern for supporting
the arts. The artists are very active and are all involved in
contributing to their communities. Some teach art while others
own art related businesses. They support each other in many
ways, visit artst studios, and attend art gallery exhibitions.
They have visited the studios of many of our member artists as
well as seeking out artists in their local communities including
Greg Biolchini, painter, Ft Myers, Fl and Rick Rose, ceramic
artist, Naples, Fl.
They exhibit in regional and national art shows, support young
women in the arts, organize group shows, educate the public and
serve as judges for local art contests.
They have made donations of their art to Arts for ACT Celebrity
Auction, Ft Myers, Fl, to raise funds for abused women and
children and to Sanibel Island's BIG Arts' Gallery,
contributions to Arts for ACT, Cape Coral Caring Center, Chapin
Food Bank, Friends of the Cape Coral Library,Christmas donations
for scholarships and art scholarships for young women through
Alliance For The Arts, Ft Myers, Fl.
In 2009 they had two group shows, one at the Cape Coral Library,
Cape Coral, Fl celebrating the library's 50th anniversary and
another at the Arts For ACT gallery, Ft Myers, fl. The group is
currently submitting proposals to galleries for group shows in
2010.
This is a generous and talented group of women artists who are
definitely making a positive contribution to the arts in their
communities.
